Well there was a tutorial on an old gfx forum ,that really helped me start rolling. I could show you guys my first three sigs that I made after I read the tutorial, they are really good.

I don't usually take request, but I have and I can take requests. Would you like to request something?

Well I would use photoshop, but mine doesn't work for some reason, so I just use it's sibling Imageready. There's only a slight difference between the two.
