Oooh that's why the bad Cyborg in The End said; Oh wait, you don't have a mommy. ;o

Re: Random cool facts that deal with the titans.
Personally, I don't even consider the Teen Titans Go! comics to be canon with the TV series, even though it's supposed to be. There are just too many inconsistencies.
The quality of writing in TTG! was also never anywhere near that of the TV series. Which is probably my bigger gripe, since the show's writing was always what set it apart to me.

Really? I never thought that Teen Titan's writing was every anything too special. I mean it's good for sure, but some of the episodes were just like generic super hero shows.
Anyway back on topic, let's see what else do I know about our friends the Titans...
Well, Starfire's real name is Koriand'r. Teen Titans Robin is the only Titan, other than Raven, to have a show confirmed out of mask name, his doppelganger Larry introduces himself as nosyarG kciD, Dick Grayson for those of you would have issues reading backward, I had to write it down before I caught it the first time.
In the comics Nightwing actually dissolves the Titans.
During her of time Starfire was a fashion model, using the name Kory Anders.
Starfire's powers come from the sun, sort of, she converts ultraviolet light to energy, explaining her enthusiasms during otherwise lifeless hours like dawn.
Psimon is in league with Trigon. The Brain and Mala were lovers, to the degree a pickle jar and an ape can be. Mala isn't a super intelligent gorilla like Grodd, he's a zoo experiment gone wrong. Jerico is Slade's son. Jinx is Egyptian. Brother Blood originally worshiped Trigon and at one point attempted to marry Raven. Slade hates the H.I.V.E. because they tried to hire him refused to pay him in advance, he refused, and they killed his son, other than Jerico. Slade lost his eye to his wife. Slade's 'sword' is built of the same material as Cyborg.
Uhm... I can't think of much more.

Re: Random cool facts that deal with the titans.
Actually, all five Titans' "real" names were at least alluded to at one point or another during the TV series. As you mentioned, Robin's name (Dick Grayson) was implied in Fractured, plus his origin was confirmed as being Grayson's in Haunted. Cyborg's name (Victor Stone) was referenced when he used the alias "Stone" while infiltrating the H.I.V.E. Academy in Deception. In Betrothed, when the Titans first landed on Tamaran, Galfore addressed Starfire as Koriand'r. And Beast Boy's name (Garfield Logan) was "revealed" by Elasti-Girl at the end of Homecoming, part 2.TheDeceiverGod wrote:Teen Titans Robin is the only Titan, other than Raven, to have a show confirmed out of mask name, his doppelganger Larry introduces himself as nosyarG kciD, Dick Grayson for those of you would have issues reading backward, I had to write it down before I caught it the first time.
And since Raven's given name IS Raven, well...
As for Jinx, she's a bit of an anomaly in that the Jinx depicted in the TV series is clearly a totally different character than the Jinx established in the comics. She's about the only one to whom practically nothing from the comics would seem to apply.
Re: Random cool facts that deal with the titans.
I'd argue that most of the characters on the show were completely different, but something tells me that's not a subject worth arguing. XPCylor wrote:As for Jinx, she's a bit of an anomaly in that the Jinx depicted in the TV series is clearly a totally different character than the Jinx established in the comics. Jinx is actually the only character on the show to have significant changes that I thought was far better than the comic version. The comic Jinx is rather dull and subpar. Outside of being completely evil and a stalwart of the Fearsome Five, she has had almost no story arc aside from being one of the few Titans rogues.
I think of Jinx as the "Mr. Freeze" of the Teen Titans animated series in being better than the comic character; the biggest difference being the wide gap of quality between B:TAS and Teen Titans, but that's neither here nor there.

Re: Random cool facts that deal with the titans.
Personally, the standard I try to adhere to in my own TT writing is this: unless an element of the characters' background from the comics is directly contradicted by something in the TV series, it can be assumed to apply to both versions. (shrug)

TheDeceiverGod wrote:'Purgatory' also makes an appearance in the Justice League television show, though like in Titans it remains unnamed. In the Episode 'Kid's Stuff' the arch wizard Mordred La Faye uses the amulet of first magic to banish 'every older then him' including his own mother, the dimension where all the adults are sent bears a convincing resemblance to The Herald's dimension from Teen Titans.
Oh, I remember that!

Re: Random cool facts that deal with the titans.
A few more background details from the comics.
- The original five Teen Titans were actually Aqualad, Kid Flash, Robin, Speedy and Wonder Girl.
- Raven's mother, Angela Roth, was originally from Gotham City. As a teenager, she ran away from an abusive home and fell in with a cult who worshipped Trigon. After being raped by Trigon, she attempted suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills. As she neared death, her situation attracted the attention of the monks of Azarath, who saved her life, took her in and gave her the name Arella. The rest, you probably know.
- In the comics, Slade was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. (The TV version is probably still at least a Vietnam vet, IMO.) He was involved in a secret military program to artificially create meta-humans. The procedure "tweaked" Slade's physical attributes and capabilities slightly beyond what is possible for a "normal" human. As an unexpected side effect, he cannot be permanently killed.
- In the comics, Blackfire was unable to fly, which made her a social outcast on Tamaran.
- Bumblebee is married to Herald.
- Speedy was addicted to heroin at one point. He also has a young daughter named Lian...with Cheshire.
- Kid Flash (Wally West) eventually became THE Flash after the previous Flash, Wally's uncle Barry Allen, died heroically in the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
- As a child, Jericho was kidnapped by a group of terrorists who'd uncovered his father's identity, and were trying to blackmail him. When Slade and his (now ex-) wife, Adeline, confronted the kidnappers, Slade attacked them outright instead of trying to negotiate for his son's release. One of the kidnappers tried to slit Jericho's throat; Slade killed him before he could finish the job, but the boy's vocal chords had already been cut, which is why he can't talk. (Jericho seriously deserved a proper introductory episode in the TV series.)
- Red Star was originally called Starfire.
- Psimon was, as has been mentioned, a servant of Trigon, and received his powers from him. In the comics, he is really powerful.

All of these characters have some seriously dark and traumatic stuff in their backgrounds, if you really think about it. The vast majority of which, I might add, is still consistent with their depictions in the TV series.Mercy wrote:Wow. Raven's mother's story is sick..

To some degree. The show glossed over a lot. While nothing in the show directly contradicted anything from the comics, they skipped over a lot of it.Cylor wrote:All of these characters have some seriously dark and traumatic stuff in their backgrounds, if you really think about it. Which I'm not chastising the shows creators for, mind you; it was a kids show and a lot of the things in the past of the Titans weren't exactly something you could really use in a kids show as anything but something to vaguely reference.
