The Disney/Marvel merger is an interesting beast. It feels like it came out of nowhere. But the two companies have had business dealings in the past, so there's a bit of precedent.

I think the main motive behind the purchase lies in Disney's successes and failures in itself. Much of it's focus has been on little girls for so long that they lost a lot of their other audiences. They were looking to recapture that as far back as two years ago and wanted to buy something that would help with that.

Marvel has a pretty large stable of characters and has a record of grabbing the young to teenage sect with their animation. There are plenty of oppourtunities to use now that they have the large cast of character Marvel owns. Also, if nothing else they now have a new revenue stream; and we all know Disney loves money.

I'm a staunch DC fan, but I like Marvel comics as well, so this news is a bit disconcerting. We don't know enough right now to know if this will be good or bad. Time will tell, I suppose.

As for the MarvelxDisney stuff, I don't really care... Should I?

Justice League is probably one of my all time favorite cartoons. It's a respectful adaption of the source, consistently entertaining and just knocks some episodes out of the park. I was so freaking bummed when it was axed. It was the only form of entertainment thus far that actually made me give a damn about Wonder Woman (though I've yet to see the new animated film, which I will at some point considering it's written by comics female writer extraordinaire, Gail Simone).

I think my top three episodes were "For the Man Who Has Everything", "The Greatest Story Never Told" and "Epilogue". The first was just a spot on adaption of a classic Alan Moore Superman story and generally a joy. The second one was an excellent Booster Gold story. The third? Well, what can I say; I'd been waiting a while for more Batman Beyond and even if it was technically a "last episode" of sorts it was nice to get some closure that even tied all the way back to the era of the League.

I grew up with the originator of the DCAU, Batman: The Animated Series. I think I was five when it first premiered. It's still my all time favorite cartoon of all time.

As for the MarvelxDisney stuff, I don't really care... Should I?

Depends on whether you're a fan of Marvel or it's adaptions. If not, then no, you're probably alright. If so, however, there's some cause for worry. Sony has dropped out of supporting Marvel's animation in response, looking to get a deal on the live action stuff that's a bit more secure. This leaves Spectacular Spider-Man without it's usual backing, so it's sort of in limbo right now and faces early cancellation (after only two freaking seasons). We no longer know exactly where the rights on some films stand, much less outside licenses (Universal Studios, for example, uses Marvel characters on one of it's rides).

Aside from that, a lot of different properties are up in the air right now and we don't have many details, so long story short it depends on your investment in the Marvel characters.

Yeah, go JL! I loved "For the Man Who Has Everything" too. Black Mercy is awesome... lol me BM/WW and GL/HG shipper XD

Marvel... I don't know much about THAT universe, but I do like Spider Man and X Men: Evolution (if I'm not mistaken that's the one that used to air on CN, right? XD). And now... Ugh.

I like Batman/Wondey in the show, myself. Not sure about in the comics. There was a bit of chemistry there, but it didn't really go anywhere. Also, yes, the Black Mercy is interesting. I like that they've brought it back in the comics of late now that Mongul II is a recurring antagonist in the Green Lantern franchise.

X Men: Evolution (if I'm not mistaken Razz that's the one that used to air on CN, right? XD)

I do recall it running on CN for a while, so yes, that's probably it. I don't think they ever ran the 90's X-Men on CN. Which is kind of a shame.

And now... Ugh.

Don't like the new shows, I take it?

It all depends on the vote. If they wanna do both, then we could do both here. cuz think about it...besides send letters, what else did we do here? art, episodes ideas, etc. the art and everything is already here, so maybe we shouldn't move anything yet...i want everyone to be on one accord, which is why we is voting lol


Throw in the towel= Give up

The issue with that idea is that by separating the two you run the serious risk of new members not being aware of the other forum. Instead, it would be a better idea to have a new section on this forum for said things. Creating a whole new forum might unnecessarily complicate things, I think.
