Carafrost gasped as Rift grabbed her ankle, she tried to shoot him with her freezing blasts, but it was too late. They had already dissapeared.

Malice looked around, she was breathing heavily, she didn't know what to say. What to do. She looked at Karmy, tears swelled in her eyes. She looked back at the rubble and started searching. She scratched at the boulders and rocks violently shaking and crying more. Whimpering, she fell to her knees and gave up. She couldn't say anything, but she made sounds of sorrow. Tears uncontrollably streamed from her face. She wanted to be alone, but she knew she had to go back to jail. She knew Karmy wouldn't let her go.

Everything came together, the explosion she was so mesmerized by was Jamie's death.

"No.." and Karmy fell to her knees as Malice searched through the rubble. She didn't want this, "Malice.. I.." and she reached towards her..

Sky finially tracked Karmy to what looked like a pile of rocks. Seeing Malice Sky crept up behind her, waiting to back Karm up.

"Don't." Malice warned, shivering. "Karmy are you sure.... are you sure this is where you left him." Karmy was silent. Malice turned around to look at Karmy in the eye. "Are you sure?" She asked still shivering. "He's dead? Jamie is dead?"

Karmy couldn't look Malice in the eyes, her own mind was racing. "Th-th-this was it.. " she stuttered, trying to find her voice. "I... I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN! I didn't want another innocent hurt...." She suddenly stood up and glared sternly up at Malice, "What were you doing with such a nice old man anyways!?!"

Sky listened, confused. Were they working together? Were they good or bad gys now? Sky relax, Karm is good. You however tend to drink people's blood. She thought. Slowly she walked over and stood next to KArm, teeth showing at Malice.

"You don't understand Karmy." she said shaking her head. "You just don't understand, he's my only friend I have." She said closing in on Karmy. She felt like an 11 year old again, she hugged Karmy.

Karmy had felt a lot of awkward moments in her life, one being that of when she accidentally appeared in on a old couple in a lovers suite. But this took the cake. Karmy stood there rigid, not knowing what to do. Not to long ago, they were at each others throats and now... The better side of her took over and hugged Malice back. She shed a few tears of her own.

Sky changed to normal. "Um... So are one of you changeing sides? Or can we get back to normal here?"

Malice felt rage, she thought maybe she took Jamie there to kill him, then she rationalized she really didn't want him to die. She needed to let loose some of her anger. She needed to burst. She looked at Sky who looked like she was ready to eat her. Malice was a villain. She had to remember that. Jamie was supposed to be dead two years ago. That was the only order she ever disobeyed from Slade. It was also kept very secret from him. She had to realize who she was. With or without Jamie. She had no weaponry. She reached for Karmy's communicator slyly and covertly, and when she safely stored it in her holster she jabbed a hard punch in Karmy's gut, dropping her to the floor.

Remorse? Numbness? She had to take the mood out as much as she wanted to hold on to it.

As soon as the trio reappeared, Rift rolled away from the heroes, teleporting to give them a twenty foot berth. Having already been chided for his unoriginality, he hadn't brought them to the desert; rather, a dense jungle the girl couldn't freeze without killing the flora and fauna. Zero looked around wildly, trying to gain his bearings.

Sky leaped into the air, grabbed a knife from her boot, and changed into hr vampire form. Slashing the knife at Malice, Sky wasn't holding back.

"Dangit Malice!" Karmy said as she stood up with a grunt, she quickly motioned for Sky to stay put. Karmy tackled Malice and held her by the collar of her uniform. "You think I wanted this to happen?! I don't know why you cared about this guy so much, that's not my business, but I didn't want him to die!" she screamed in her face, "I.." she relaxed her grip slightly and stared off into space...

"Karm?" Sky hissed as her fangs got smaller. "Karm, finish her already!" Slowly she put her knife back, but grew her claws out just in case...

"Just stand down Sky, let me handle this." Karmy said without looking at the younger Titan. "Head back to the tower, I heard fighting there, I'll be fine." but she quickly flashed Sky a very quick smile..

Sky was reluctant to leave. Snarling at Malice she left. Running as fast as she could, Sky fallowed Zero's scent. Seeing Rift she stopped. "My, my, more criminals today than I care for." Her fangs grew longer. "Less in a few mintues." Hearing her comm. go off she answered, "Luna I got'em"

Malice kneed Karmy from her chest straight up to her face and knocked out of her grip, she grabbed Karmy by the arms, swung her around and held her in a bear hug. "It doesn't matter, I know you didn't want it to happen Karmy but it did anyways. I just wish my last words to him were more meaningful. If I had known he was going to die today I-.. I.. " Karmy broke out and tried to attack her again, she dodged two punches and a kick before Malice had her again. "You could have just let him go!" Malice winced with more tears.

Karmy struggled madly to get out of Malice's grip, "I did let him go! I got him as far away from the fight as I could!"

Malice held on tighter. "Right in the middle of a ... wait.. " Malice let Karmy go. "How did this building collapse?" Malice asked forgetting completely about Karmy. She wanted to know more about her friend's death than fight Karmy. She seemed captivated by the rubble. "You have no idea what happened here Karmy?"

(Got to go to bed, don't beat on me too much)
(capture me if you must, but remember: you have to knock a teleporter unconscious to capture them)

Rift looked up. "How did you get here so fast?" He teleported into the tree. "No matter; you've still got to catch me first!"

Karmy rubbed her sore arms, "I don't know.. Maybe it was that explosion we heard when yOU SLICED MY BACK OPEN!" and she grabbed Malice and sent a well aimed punch into her face.
