The Darkest of Knights

Karmy continued to keep her head down, and shook her head. Nothing but her bag could cheer her up now, and by the looks of things, she would never get it back. Slade had won and Karmy was giving up. She would be happier with just death by now. All hope was lost to her. But, she didn't want her friends to be mad at her anymore. "No." she replied on command, like a robot.

"So whats it like, being a rider?" Crimson asked to Luna. To him, small talk seemed like the best way to kill time.

Zero knew they had to be getting close- he could hear a foot tapping nearby. He was dreading this as much as Ivy- the past few days, their time together had been sporadic at best. He figured they must be in the interogation room by now- he could hear an unknown voice adressing a 'rider', undoubtedly Luna as she was the only one up here prior to them. "So 'bout the wait, Lu. What's up?" He asked her.

Cyrah sighed. Oh well, gone again. She wandered back inside, secretly feeling helpless. Without that bag, Karmy was deteriorating more and more by the hour....... what to do.......

Cassius snorted. "You and you're friggin' posse didn't have to JUMP me, you COULD have just asked." Cassius said disdainfuly, his arm stubbornly crossed. Really, he didn't think being jumped was nesecary- Damian didn't even LIKE Greyson, all he was trying to do was lighten the mood. He got up and waltzed away from the bats when Alice began to chat with Karmy.

Alice looked at her friend, defeated and half dead. She wondered if Cassius hadn't barged in, in the middle of the movie and sat on Dick, things would have been differently. "You wanna finish up the movie?" Alice asked weakly. "It was just getting good." Alice smiled hoping she would at least pluck up the courage to see the rest of it, maybe it'll put a smile on her face.

"Hey Cassius. Just watch where you sit next time." Dick said. "Are you okay?" Barbara asked him. "I'm fine.. No need to overreact Babs." Dick responded. "Wow. I've only seen people sit on other people in movies when no one recognizes their existance." Damian laughed. "You were the first person who attacked Cassius." Dick said intrigued. "Sorry, I naturally hit seven foot giants when they surprise me." Damian said not admitting to want to help Dick. "Right. Well are we starting the movie back up?" Dick asked Alice. "Just a minute!" She called back.

Without any indication whether or not she wanted to or not, Karmy got up, her movements almost zombie like. "I don't know." she stared at Alice. "Should I." she asked blankly.

"Yeah its a good movie." Alice said quietly, she hung her arm around Karmy's shoulder. "Please. Loosen up. If you're still feeling bad..." She thought and whispered to her "I'll come with you to get your bag back."

Damian kept an eye on Dick and Babs, when no one was looking, he licked Nicole's lips. "Had some ketchup there." He whispered to her.

"I need it back.." Karmy said, almost whimpering. "I'm so lost without it." she hugged Alice.

It wasn't much to look at. A steel box about two feet long and only a foot high, just sitting there on corner of his desk. A courier had delivered it an hour ago. Thorne had to call six different labs and finally one less that reputable research company before he'd found some. Turned out there weren't many places that dealt in rare, potent chemicals and weren't too picky about who they sold them to, even in Gotham. The whole thing had cost him more favors than money, but if all went well, it would be effort well spent. There was a slight temptation to open it, to see what Deathstroke had asked for, but for all his uses, Slade was still a mask, and Thorne had learned long ago that there was no fathoming Masks. They were people who dressed up in costumes, stocked up on toys, and went about trying to change the world.

That was the difference between a criminal and a villain, at least as far as Rupert Thorne was concerned. A criminal broke laws, a villain ignored them. There were something you just didn't disturb, some laws that weren't meant to be broken. So the box stayed closed, Thorne smoked his cigar, and dialed his phone, sending a quick message to Deathstroke, to let the assassin know his part of the deal was through and he could come pick up his chemical whenever he was ready to share the suit plans.

"Are you guys coming?" Dick asked, his finger on the play button. "C'mon. Please. You won't regret it." Alice implored to Karmy.

"What?" Damian asked looking at Nicole with a confused face.

Karmy complied and moved to the couch, far away from the bats. Pulling her legs to her chest and resting her head on her knees, she waited for the movie to start again.

"Okay, let's restart.." Dick said pressing play. The movie begun, Damian hushed Nicole on purpose saying that it was rude talk during movies. The low blue light flickered on their faces from the screen. Alice--with intentions of a friend--hung an arm over Karmy and rested her head on Karmy's shoulder. She could see a smile slowly form on Karmy's face.

Raven and Red Robin landed on the Pizza Parlor's top where they use to get free slices from the manager. The lights were out. "Oh crud.. They closed up." Red Robin cursed. "Well now where do we go?" Raven asked. "I don't know let's look around." Red Robin suggested. "Ugh.. All that interrogating made me hungry..."

Ivy smiled at Luna before narrowing her eyes at Crimson. "What has he told us so far?" She asked her friend, not taking her eyes off their captive. She wasn't about to repeat any stupid questions, unless they'd end up getting different answers. "Was he particularly nervous with some of his answers?" she added under her breath.

Astro wandered into the room and, upon seeing Finding Nemo on screen, leaned back against the far wall to watch silently.

As the movie progressed, Karmy slipped off the couch and would every so often, get closer and closer to the screen. For some childish belief, the movie seemed more real the closer she got to the screen. By the time Marlin and Dory were inside the blue whale, Karmy was sitting very close to the screen, mouth slightly agape in awe at the film. Her head was craned slightly because of the vast screen.

"She's just like Beast Boy.." Dick whispered to Barbara. "She even sits like him.." Then Damian nudged Dick. "Shh.." He hissed at him. Barbara giggled. Alice leaned back on the couch and noticed Astro, he hasn't been around lately. She motioned him to come sit with the group.

A little bit of drool rimmed the edge of Karmys mouth. She was completely entranced by this movie! Never in all her life had she ever seen such a film and she was loving every second. She felt her heart sink drastically when Marlin left Dory because he thought Nemo was gone. Poor Dory was so alone... So lost. Tears were streaming down Karmys eyes.

"Oh. Okay then..." Ivy turned back to Crimson. "You said you were looking for the Midnight Riders. Well, you've found us. Why?" She questioned, letting herself relax. She had scrutinized him for awhile and, even with disabled Zero, he would be an easy one to fight.

Astro hesitantly came and joined the others. He found himself comforted by the sudden laid back attitude everyone had attained. It was contagious, and soon he was laughing with the rest of them.

A brush of happiness swept over the audience when Marlin reunited with Nemo, the credits began to roll. Just then Raven and Red Robin came through the common room doors. "Hey the pizza place was closed, but look what we picked up!" Red Robin smiled holding up Red Snappers, Flounders, and other assorted fish. "And bean burgers that Beast Boy use to buy." Raven added.

Karmy gave a small scream and hid underneath the coffee table. "They killed nemo! Fish are friends, not food." she cried

"What? Oh c'mon!" Red Robin cried out looking at the screen. "Its a movie! Fish don't actually have emotional connections to each other like that! They're just fish!" Raven snatched the fish from Red Robin's hands and stashed it into the freezer. "Looks like we're all having bean burgers tonight." Raven growled at Red Robin, knowing they should have picked up something else.

"You put the friends inn the freezer..." Karmy freaked, slowly losing her apetite. "Fish are friends, not food.." she pulled her hood up again.

"Good going." Raven said lightly punching Dick. "You should have seen Toy Story." She mocked. "Hey... I didn't know.." Dick tried to apologize

"Okay....the reason why i went looking for the riders....." Crimson said to himself. "The reason is that i want to help you guys out." "I want to help people. i want to do more with my life!
